A master craftsman or master tradesman was a member of a guild. In the European guild system, only masters and journeymen were allowed to be members of the guild. An aspiring master would have to pass through the career chain from apprentice to journeyman before he could be elected to become a master craftsman.

As a master craftsman, you have reached the highest level of craftsmanship in your field. His duties vary entirely based on his craft and industry, but you generally hold a management or supervisory role.

Karl is a 4th Generation metal roofer. In 1973 he started as an apprentice with Lummel GmH, Karlstadt, Germany gaining extensive experience in all areas of roofing and plumbing, and getting his journeyman certification 1977 from The Chamber of Handicrafts for Lower Franconia.
As a Journeyman he was responsible in the execution of fabrication and installation of roofing works throughout Germany and was involved with Project Management and the training of new apprentices. In 1982 he did a fulltime course with Robert Mayer School in Stuttgart, Germany for his MasterCraftsman certification in the Roofing Trade, and graduated in 1983 from the Chamber of Handicrafts, Stuttgart Region, Germany.
As a Master Craftsman, Karl continued with Lummel GmbH as Operations Manager managing entire roofing projects in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles and Southeast Asia. He was stationed in Hong Kong from 1990-1995 overseeing the installation works of some of the MTR Stations, residential and other commercial projects there.
In 1995 Karl was appointed as Managing Director of Sheet Metal International Systems Pte Ltd, ensuring that the company continued to provide the highest possible quality workmanship, consistent with his passion and capabilities in this field of work
Joerg started as an apprentice in 1988 Moritzburg, Germany with Fa. Harald Borsdorf in Moritzburg, Germany and got his Journeyman certification 1990 from The Chamber of Handicrafts of Saxony in Dresden, Germany. He gained extensive experience in all areas of roofing and plumbing during this time.Whilst being their Supervisor, he did a part-time course for his MasterCraftsman certification, graduating in 1998 from The Chamber of Handicrafts in Saxony, Dresden, Germany. He continued with the same firm, starting as an apprentice, and finally graduating as a MasterCraftsman for his company. Joerg has installed many iconic roofs in Germany.
To further gain more experience, Joerg ventured overseas which then brought him to Singapore to join our company as our Project Manager. His experience has proven invaluable ensuring that the work executed was in par with the high standards set by the company.
